Questions for Self-reflection

Inspired by Monica Dennis' Wheel of Oppression and Liberation

What sources have meaning in your life?

Connection to land

Connection to ancestors & ancestral wisdom

Connection to spirit

Connection to all living beings

What is a practice that can support you to maintain those connections?

What activities help you to stay present in your body?

When your body expresses a need, how can you tune in?

How might you relate to your nervous system with deep compassion?

How would you describe your relationship to your emotions?

When are you most comfortable expressing emotions–by yourself to yourself, to others?

Where have you personally experienced or witnessed in others the possibility of emotions to move energy, heal, create connection, humanize, etc.?

What storytelling practices or traditions exist in your life, family, culture, community?

Which histories are you most curious about in your own lineage?

How can you practice curiosity and open-hearted listening to the stories of cultures and life experiences different from your own?

My commitment to supporting the work of healing and social change is rooted in love, my mixed race African American and Irish ancestries, and the survival, resilience, and power I experience as a queer person--among other Sources. I live and build community on the occupied land of the Wabanaki peoples.
